It all started with a small Finn sheep farm. The farm grew and grew until we had over 50 sheep and were swimming in fleeces. My mother Linda learned how to spin, felt and knit in order to utilize the fiber. From learning those crafts she started Misty Mountain Farm.
Over the course of 25 years Misty Mountain Farm grew to be a retailer that carried all the major spinning, weaving, and knitting equipment brands, was teaching regular classes in spinning, weaving, knitting, and felting, and could be found in all the top fiber shows in the country.
During the early years of Misty Mountain Farm, Linda tough me her daughter how to do all the fiber arts at a very young age. I grew up learning from some of the top names in the business and 15 years ago started my own hand painted yarn company, Blue Ridge Yarns. After many years of wholesale I decided to change to retail at the same time Linda decided it was time to retire. I took over Misty Mountain Farm and have combined it with Blue Ridge Yarns and by doing so customers can now find the top spinning, knitting, felting, and weaving equipment, and wonderful hand painted yarns and fibers all at one great site.
I have had the pleasure of growing up in the fiber industry and look forward to many more wonderful years in the industry.
